The Theology of “The Ant Bully”

While I was talking with a friend at work today work he mentioned the movie “The Ant Bully”.
If you’ve watched the movie then you know the basic plot is that a small child is terrorizing a colony of ants with a magnifying glass. The entire colony calls him ‘the destroyer’ and fears him. But, one ant isn’t swayed and begins working on a solution.
This solution is a potion that when given to “The Ant Bully” shrinks him down to ant size. So, now nobody is afraid of him and he has to learn to live as one of the ants.
The entire colony is breathing a sigh of relief now that all there problems are gone.
Unfortunately, the exterminator had been called and is in fact about to exterminate the colony. And, even though “The Ant Bully” is now willing to call off the exterminator he is too small to be noticed having been reduced to the size of the ants.
Now that the entire colony is in danger a frantic search is made for a way to return “The Ant Bully” to his true size so that he can save the colony.
Now there are voices I’ve been hearing lately that have taken Open Theism to an extreme that shrinks God to a position of being subservient to man.
And, oh all the joy to not have to worry about a Sovereign, Just and Holy God’s sense of justice.
And, I have to wonder just what type of tribulation will have to be brought upon them to get them to earnestly desire to have God as big and as Sovereign as He should be?
Will we consider, “If my people, which are called by my name, shall humble themselves, and pray, and seek my face, and turn from their wicked ways; then will I hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin, and will heal their land.” (2 Chronicles 7:14) as a viable course of action.
Or, will the question, “However, when the Son of Man comes, will he find faith on the earth?", (Luke 18:8 kjv) be answered in the negative?
Because they think waiting is for days gone by?
“But they that wait upon the LORD shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings as eagles; they shall run, and not be weary; and they shall walk, and not faint.” Isaiah 40:31
And, they will say, “But, waiting and seeking is Old Testament”. To which I reply, “Then so is running without being weary and walking without fainting. Not to mention the Manifest Presence of God.”
The world continues to ask, “Is your God big enough?”, and they tell them, “Yes, absolutely.” All the while declaring that man, and not God, controls the future. All the while living ineffectual and powerless lives unable to effect any real change, “because thou canst not make one hair white or black.” Matthew 5:36
