I have been reading a book by Gregory A. Boyd titled, 'God At War - The Bible & Spiritual Conflict'. (ISBN 0-8308-1885-5 Intervarsity Press)
This has been an interesting read.
In it, he makes a very strong case that Omnipotence does not require omni or meticulous control, Which, of course, flies in the face of Modern Classical Christianity...
He states again and again that Our God continues to be in a battle of cosmic proportions. And, that we are to be taking an active role in those battles...
If my premise in "Stir Up the Gift" is correct, that the primary conduit for Spiritual Connectivity is through the Human Emotions, and if, we take the 'Wrestle' part of Ephesians 6:12 seriously.
And, if we restate James 5:16 to say 'The **fervent** prayer of a righteous man availaeth much..'
Then I would say that being "Militant in Praise and Passionate in Worship" has important implications in the Spiritual Realm.
(Another interesting read is "The Fourth Dimension" by Pastor Cho. But, this must be read with a view to our cultural dissemilarities. Pastor Cho's view of the church is Cell Based where all the major work of the church takes place in Home Cell groups and the Sunday service is a Service of celebration and unity.)
That if we are co-workers with God. We are not only co-workers in the physical realm. But, also in the Spiritual Realm. And, the primary (only?) way we have to pass assistance into that realm is by 'really feeeling it'...
Then many of the high ecclesiastical services we proudly call 'worship'. And, a lot of the hyper energetic (but emotion-less) easily saleable songs we sing have no value. And, are but 'tripe' in the 'true' Conflict we are in.
I have coined the Phrase, 'Militant in Praise - Passionate in Worship'...
Do we dare 'feel' our worship? Do we dare expend emotional blood, sweat and tears in our worship?
I am beginning to believe, that if we don't, we are not even noticed in the Heavenlies!
To the above phrase, I would like to add, 'Combative in prayer'... Does your church have a warfare prayer room... Or, are all your prayers, "Whatever will be, will be" prayers?
Yes, we can do so in private. But, to restrict such expenditures to private use only defeats a very valuable synergy...
A threefold cord is not easily broken...
As it is, that one candle burning may light a room. (And, emotions can be like a fire.)
So, A hundred candles burning together can light the sky...
David was so glad to go up into the congregation... That he (at least once) danced his way into church!
David also wondered about what was so great about being the Lord's... But, it was in Corporate Worship that he found his answer and knew the unbelievers end...
