Horses and the Body of Christ

Often in Pentecostal circles we joke to the effect that if we don't get it right this time, we will have to take another lap around Mount Sinai.
Another interesting phrase is the one about, "You can lead a horse to water. But, you can't make them drink."
To which I usually respond, "Yes, but, you can lead them around in the wilderness until they're thirsty enough to drink".
I was sharing with a friend the other day and I got off on Horses. Oh I know that we are called the Sheep of His Pasture in the Old Testament. And, I also know that Jesus used sheep as a metaphor.
Had horses been more common and not a "Roman" thing He might have used Horses, too.
I used to ride often. And, I decidedly preferred Western Tack to English.
Why Western? I suppose it has to do more with watching all those westerns when I was a boy than anything else.
But, what caught my imagination is the difference in the basic attitude of the Rider.
Yes, the horse is a beast of burden.
But, to a cowboy the Horse is a Partner.
Here's what I actually shared.
Walking in the Spirit, is by a Knowledge of the Word of God by which we try the spirits to see if they are of God or not, and practicing an attentiveness that allows one to follow the slightest naunce of where the Holy Spirit would have the church go.
It's kinda the difference between having a really well trained neck reigning quarterhorse or a somewhat stubborn bit-reigned english tacked horse. You can ride both. But, you can do things on and "with" that Western Quarter Horse that you wouldn't even think of trying on an English Reigned Horse... (Of course there are the Lippizon Stallions, just goes to show a well trained Baptist Church can do neat things, too! ©¿© )
A well trained Quarterhorse will sense and follow the slightest movement of their rider. And, the rider will also watch and listen to their horse because the horse is in "partnership" and sees things from a different perspective.
Never forget who the Lord and Master Rider is, though. We, are still His Workmanship. His servants.
But, are we a joy to "ride"? Or, do we need to be "reigned" into obedience?
I would love to read your thoughts on this?
Have you ever thought about walking in the Spirit as being like a riden horse?! ©¿©
